There are 29 traditional festivals spread over the whole year with favorable climatic conditions. Orange Blossom Carnival, Adana Film Festival, Kebab and Turnip Festival, Sabancı Theater Festival and Taste Festival are the most important festivals of Adana and attract tens of thousands of people to Adana every year. Orange Flower Carnival is Turkey’s first and only carnival. Activities such as the Orange Flavors Contest related to gastronomy are also organized within the carnival.

International Taste Festival

Adana Taste Festival, introduces the “most” local and the “most” traditional Adana cuisine to the world. The festival, which will be hosted by the Governorship of Adana, is preparing to offer a gastronomy festival in Adana for three days with the participation of international stars. In addition to the unique local and national chefs, Michelin-starred international chefs’ gastroshow will take place in the festival. . it will also bring the gastronomy world together in Adana. In the giant festival center to be established in the Central Park, the most traditional and local cuisine culture of Adana will be provided to all visitors with an international application and participation. The 9th edition of the festival will be held in October, 2025.

International Orange Blossom Carnival

The festival, named after the scent of orange blossoms spreading through the city in March and April, started to be organized in 2012 and with an increasing enthusiasm every year, the hotels nearly reach the full occupancy rate and the airline companies organise additional flights for this specific period. Each street with orange blossom trees becomes a showground in this festival. Wandering through the streets with orange outfits, colourful hats, crowns and flowers, the participants gather joyful memories of the colourful orange blossom carnival march. In the various events, participants have the chance to taste different traditional flavours, to enjoy dance shows, concerts, games and shopping. The exciting feeling of watching the cortege and taking part in this march, causes a lot of people to flock into this event every year.

International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival

International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, has become a cinema platform that hosts many films from the Mediterranean countries, as well as countries all around the world, from the United States of America to Japan, and film professionals in all areas of the industry. In this festival, approximately 700 guests working in cinema industry, both from Turkey and Europe are being hosted and the festival reaches approximately 70 thousand viewers every year.

International Adana Theater Festival

The 22nd State Theaters Sabancı International Adana Theater Festival is held with the support of the Sabancı Foundation. Bringing local and foreign theater groups together with the audience in Adana every year, the International Adana Theater Festival has hosted 117 foreign theater groups from 45 different countries for 21 years, and more than 6 thousand local and foreign artists. Until today, a total of 406 plays and nearly a thousand performances have been organized, including plays staged by city theaters, private theaters, and State Theaters from Turkey. The plays staged at the Adana Theater Festival, which was followed with interest by spectators from many parts of Turkey, reached nearly 1 million spectators.

Adana Kebab and Turnip Festival

Aladag Nature and Art Festival

Aladag Nature and Art Festival aims to raise awareness of the protection of nature and to make issues about nature visible via art. The festival was held for the first time between 16-18 November 2018 under the auspices of Adana Governorship and Aladag Municipality. During the festival to be held for the second time, short film and documentary screenings, photography exhibitions, interviews and workshops will be held in addition to a short film and photography competitions to be organised.

Adana Health Festival

Water Sports Festival

Swimmers are coming together along the Seyhan Dam Lake as a part of this specific festival, organised by Adana Metropolitan Municipality and supported by Governorship, The Turkish Swimming Federation, Adana Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and Adana Sailing Club. At the festival, which was last held in 2018; a total of 280 athletes participated in the races held in the categories of disabled, women and men. Open water swimming races and canoe races are held at the festival.

Saricam Adana Pomegranate Festival

In the Çiçek Village Adana Pomegranate Festival, which has been held twice so far, the sales of the pomegranates and products made of pomegranates are supported and the festival contributes the welfare of local farmers. Local people of this village become socialised thanks to the concerts.

 

Yuregir Science Festival

Yuregir Science Festival, organised for the second time this year, will be held in July 15 Martyrs Park Science, History and Culture Complex (15 Temmuz Şehitler Parkı Bilim, Tarih ve Kültür Kompleksi), by Yuregir Municipality in cooperation with TUBITAK, Adana Governorship, Cukurova University, Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University, TechnoPark and Turkish Aeronautical Association. A science show, a science workshop, science games, an astronomy night with a live connection to NASA, and a planetarium display will be taken place in the festival.

Kizildag Winter Festival

Citizens were taken to the Kizildag Highland with 1700-altitude located in Karaisali district of Adana with 200 buses, for the Winter Festival held by Adana Metropolitan Municipality and Karaisali Municipality, sausage sandwiches were served and participants made snowmen during the festival.

International Yoruk Turkmen and Hidirellez Event

During the event held for the 18th time in 2019 by the Yoruk Turkmen Associations Federation, a group consisting approximately of 200 people gathered in Atatürk Park marched to the Central Park (Merkez Park) accompanied by mehter team and waving Turkish flags. In the front rows of the march, people ride camels and horses. The Yoruk Turkmen young girls give a magic touch to the march with their traditional outfits. Yoruks gathering in Central Park, show off their skills in sports such as “gokboru”, javelin throwing, mounted archery within the scope of the Traditional Turkish Sports event.

This festival being organised for the ones who get exhausted from the Adana’s sweltering weather, is to be expected to be held, and during the festival, the tankers will splash water for the participants to cool them down. In Adana city, where the temperature is felt 45 celcius degrees together with humidity levels, those who come under the water splashed from 2 water tankers in the area next to the city hall are having fun with the music. Water guns, t-shirts and water balloons are being distributed to the participants during the festival and they show a great interest in this festival. This water fight festival will be held for the 4th time this year.

Tasty Tastes with Orange Festival is organized during the Orange Blossom Carnival and aims the people to meet the taste of orange which is one of the most famous products of Adana.

Tasty Tastes with Orange Contest is organized in five different categories: Beverages, Pastry, Sweets, Cold Food, and Hot Food. Each contestant receives a medallion and a certificate. Those contestants who hold 1., 2. and 3. Places receive special plaques.

Each contestant participating in the contest must use at least one of the citrus fruits (orange, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, sour orange, citron, kumquat, blood orange, sweet lemon, etc.). Celebrities like famous journalists, gourmands, or opinion leaders, etc. constitute a jury and vote for the product for appearance, taste, authenticity, aroma, name and honoring the recipe.
